At the foot of Taiaroa Head is the Royal Albatross Centre, where you can see the Northern Royal Albatross in a mainland setting (the only place in the world where this is possible).
Closer to Dunedin City there is the opportunity to view different wildlife, including the world’s rarest penguin colonies.
