About Christchurch 
Christchurch is the main city located in the province of Canterbury and features ocean, Alps, plains and peaks. It offers an amazing variety of activities and attractions.
Christchurch, known as ‘The Garden City’ has a population of 340,000.
Within two hours of arriving at Christchurch airport you can be; on the ski slopes, wine tasting, white water rafting, cruising Akaroa Harbour, playing a round of golf, challenging yourself to a sky dive, bungy jumping, mountain biking, wind surfing and experiencing whale watching (to name just a few things you can enjoy).
While in this region you can visit Aoraki Mount Cook (New Zealand’s highest peak) or do some hiking in Arthur’s Pass National Park. Closer to Christchurch there is fabulous Banks Peninsula featuring quaint villages and stunning bays.

Banks Peninsula Walk:
The Banks Peninsula track offers spectacular views of the Peninsula and will suit most levels of fitness. You have the option of a two or four day walk – both commencing and terminating in Akaroa and with huts to stay in on the way. The Banks Peninsula track is renown for its remote scenery where you will find waterfalls, beaches, native bush and an amazing volcanic coastline.

On the outskirts of Christchurch you will find the Adrenalin Forest, challenging you to 100 various hire wire activities and 20 flying foxes. This venue is perfect for all ages and levels of fitness. Here you can challenge yourself/your family & friends or maybe compete as a group.
White-water rafting:
The Rangitata River is home to some amazing water rafting adventures. It’s make a great fun day trip from Christchurch. The action on the water is matched by the scenery. Parts of the river are grade 5 which provides an adrenalin rush!!
Hot Air Ballooning:
With mountain ranges on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other, Christchurch is unique for Hot Air Ballooning. The Canterbury Plains offer spectacular views from above a number of different locations to land below.

Stargazing in the South Island:
