Wellington is the hometown of movie director Sir Peter Jackson. Many movies have been made in Wellington and the city has even been host to a world premier of one of his famous Hobbit movies. The Weta Cave Workshop Tour is a must!  The Weta Cave is located in the heart of the suburb of Miramar and allows fans and visitors to see behind-the-scenes of the Wellington film industry with tours, a mini museum and an exclusive film.

In downtown Wellington you will also find a magnificently restored, historic cable car that travels up to the Botanic Garden. The Gardens are among New Zealand’s finest and from here you are provided with spectacular views of the city and harbour.
